BEFORE YOU APPLY

UNDERSTAND THE STAGE YOU ARE APPLYING FOR

Stages 1, 2 and 3 may accept outside applicants when salon needs and available positions align.

Stages 4, 5 and 6 are internal advancement levels earned through demonstrated performance, education, consistency, leadership and responsibility within LDI.

DIRECT-ENTRY STAGES

SALON ASSOCIATE

STAGE 1

An education and salon-operations foundation for a developing beauty professional.

  • New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling working permit
  • Full-time or part-time, depending on salon positional needs
  • Hourly compensation
  • Guest care, salon support, product knowledge and consultation foundations

CLIENT-BUILDING STYLIST

STAGE 2

A full-time client-building position for a licensed stylist developing consistency, timing and clientele.

  • Current New Jersey cosmetology-hairstyling license
  • Minimum two years of salon-stylist experience
  • Full-time Tuesday through Saturday
  • Hourly or commission, whichever is higher, during the initial client-building period; commission-only after the defined transition

EXPERIENCED STYLIST

STAGE 3

A commission-only position for an experienced stylist and hair colorist ready to demonstrate established professional ability.

  • Current New Jersey cosmetology-hairstyling license held for a minimum of three years
  • Previous employment as a hair colorist and stylist
  • Full-time Tuesday through Saturday
  • Commission-only compensation

INTERNAL ADVANCEMENT

STAGES 4–6 ARE EARNED WITHIN LDI

These levels recognize advanced practice, mastery, leadership, education and expanding responsibility. They are not direct-entry application positions.

A THOUGHTFUL, SKILLS-BASED EVALUATION

APPLICATION & RÉSUMÉ

LDI reviews background, licensing or permit status, experience, availability and the stage requested.

INTERVIEW

The conversation explores goals, professional expectations, team fit, schedule and interest in LDI’s education culture.

TECHNICAL EVALUATION

When appropriate for Stage 2 or 3, evaluation may include a consultation exercise, mannequin work, model work, technical assessment and portfolio review.

POSITION DECISION

A position is offered only after requirements, salon needs, evaluation results and role expectations align.
